GOD OF RESTORATION
Why Did Christ Come to Earth?
This is a vital component
of understanding the nature of the LORD
“I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it.” Ezekiel 36:36
The LORD makes it clear here that He loves to “build” the lives of those who have been “ruined” by circumstances, sin, attack, and persecution.
"The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee." Jeremiah 31:3
When His people were backslidden, the God of restoration said He would restore them because He loved them. God reveals Himself as the LORD of restoration. This truth we see throughout the history of mankind, Israel and in the New Covenant for all peoples (Matt. 11:28-30; Mk. 2:17, Lk. 15, etc.). History clearly reveals that restoration/reconciliation is the LORD's first and foremost will.
I am in no way prepared to be used by the Master if I don't clearly possess the revelation that the Son of Man came to save not destroy men's hearts and lives. In reality, you and I have no ministry, God does. He utilizes us as "ministers of reconciliation" inasmuch as (to the degree that) we can and will to possess the mind of Christ - which first and foremost is restorative love.
"And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;" 2 Corinthians 5:18
Why did the Son of God come to the earth? Can we allow Him to answer that?
"For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village." Luke 9:56
"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:17
Let us now pray to possess the mind of Christ, for a heart of restoration, that is, as He is restoring our lives daily, that He will use us to help others be restored to Him as we forge ahead in vital union with our Savior and LORD.
"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual (spiritually mature - realizing that God is a God of restoration), restore (don't condemn) such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." Galatians 6:1
May this precept be written upon our hearts as we bless those around us with the truth of His love for them.
